Public transit consists of a fixed route bus service within the city that is provided by Texoma Area Paratransit System (TAPS), which has routes covering a large portion of the city that run weekdays from 5 am through 10 pm, with plans to expand coverage as needs dictate. TAPS has regular bus transfer routes to surrounding cities and a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) light rail station since, unlike nearby Plano, the light rail does not currently access McKinney. TAPS also operates an on-demand curb-to-curb ride service during weekdays for the general public that uses mobility vehicles specially designed to accommodate the disabled and elderly. McKinney National Airport and Aero Country Airport are also located in McKinney and provide private and business air services.
